About this resource

What Acorddesk is and who it is for

An independent reference for insurance agents, brokers, contractors, and agency staff who work with ACORD forms and need practical guidance beyond what the PDF provides.

What this site is

Acorddesk is a free, independently maintained reference resource covering every major ACORD form used in the US insurance market. It is not affiliated with ACORD Corporation and it is not a form download library.

The difference between this site and most other ACORD resources is context. A PDF tells you what fields exist. This site explains what those fields mean in a real transaction, which fields cause problems in practice, and which other forms typically need to accompany a submission.

What we cover

The site covers 51 ACORD forms across six categories, with additional guides covering how those forms work together in practice.

11 certificate of insurance forms
18 commercial lines applications
5 personal lines applications
8 policy change and cancellation forms
4 claims and loss notice forms
5 administrative and regulatory forms
Foundation guides on how forms work
State-specific COI guidance for TX, NY, CA

How this site works

All content is written and reviewed by Daniel Whitfield, an insurance documentation specialist with over ten years of direct experience in ACORD form submissions, certificate processing, and MGA operations. There is no team of writers and no outsourced content. Each page reflects hands-on knowledge of how these forms are actually used in practice.

Pages are updated when ACORD releases new form versions, when regulatory changes affect certificate requirements in key states, or when new patterns emerge in how agents encounter problems with specific forms.

Our editorial principles

01

Specific over generic

Every page is written for the actual situations agents face with that specific form. Generic advice that applies equally to every form is not useful. We do not publish it.

02

Named authorship

Every page is attributed to Daniel Whitfield. Anonymous content has no accountability. If something is wrong, there is one person responsible for fixing it.

03

Free access

Everything on this site is free to read and download. No account, no subscription, no paywall. The same guidance is available to a one-person agency as to a national broker.

04

Independent

This site is not affiliated with ACORD Corporation, any carrier, or any agency. No advertiser influences what we cover or how we cover it.

What this site is not

This site provides documentation guidance, not legal advice, underwriting advice, or coverage recommendations. Nothing here should be read as a statement about whether a particular coverage arrangement is appropriate for a specific insured.
